Job Aggregation & Data Use Policy

Transparent practices for job discovery and data use.

Last updated: May 1, 2026

Purpose

The Job Feed exists to simplify access to high-quality, mission-aligned career opportunities in sustainable food systems. To do this, we aggregate publicly available job postings from trusted sources and present them in a structured, searchable format that helps job seekers discover opportunities while driving traffic back to the original employer postings.
We are not a replacement for employer career pages or applicant tracking systems (ATS). We are a discovery and visibility layer.

Sources of Job Data

The Job Feed aggregates job postings from the following categories of sources:

1. Official Public APIs and Feeds (Preferred)

Where available, we use official, documented, and publicly accessible APIs or job feeds, including but not limited to:
  • ATS job board APIs (e.g., Greenhouse, Lever)
  • Government job APIs (e.g., USAJOBS)
These sources are designed to support job discovery, syndication, and aggregation.

2. Public Career Pages (Limited Use)

For organizations without structured feeds, we may aggregate minimal job metadata from publicly accessible career pages, subject to:
  • Site terms of service
  • Robots.txt directives
  • Responsible request frequency
We do not scrape behind logins, paywalls, or access-restricted systems.

3. Manually Curated Listings

In addition to automated aggregation, The Job Feed includes job listings that have been identified and submitted through manual curation. This includes:
  • The Job Feed team: Our team independently identifies and adds relevant listings sourced from publicly available information on the internet, including organizational websites, social media, professional networks, and sector newsletters.
  • Community Curator Program: The Job Feed operates a voluntary Community Curator Program through which approved community members may submit publicly available job listings for review and potential inclusion. Submissions from community curators are subject to editorial review before publication.
All manually curated listings are:
  • Sourced exclusively from publicly available information
  • Subject to editorial review and discretion by The Job Feed team prior to publication
  • Linked directly to the original employer posting for applications and authoritative details
  • Removable upon request by the relevant organization
The Job Feed makes no representations or warranties regarding the completeness, accuracy, or timeliness of manually curated listings. Inclusion of a listing does not constitute an endorsement of the organization or role. The employer's official job posting remains the authoritative source.
Community curators participate as independent contributors and do not act as agents, employees, or representatives of The Job Feed. The Job Feed is not responsible for the content of curator submissions and reserves the right to accept, reject, edit, or remove any listing at its sole discretion.

Data Collected

We intentionally collect only the data necessary to support job discovery, including:
  • Job title
  • Organization name
  • Location (including remote/hybrid status where available)
  • Posting date (when available)
  • Canonical job posting URL
  • Job summary/overview
  • Requirements/qualifications
  • Related metadata (categories, functions, sectors, experience level, work modality, etc.)
The employer's official job posting remains the authoritative source.

Use of Aggregated Data

Aggregated job data is used to:
  • Power The Job Feed's job board and search tools
  • Enable filtered or customized job feeds for partners (e.g., fellows, alumni, community platforms)
  • Improve job discovery through categorization, tagging, and alerts
  • Support the Job Search Roadmap tool for tracking applications and organizing searches
All job listings link directly to the original employer posting for application and authoritative details.

Data Freshness & Accuracy

We take reasonable steps to ensure listings are current and accurate by:
  • Refreshing API-based feeds on a regular schedule
  • Removing or deactivating postings that are no longer available at the source
  • Deduplicating listings that appear across multiple sources
Despite best efforts, we acknowledge that job availability can change rapidly. Employers' career pages remain the source of truth.

Attribution & Linking

Every aggregated job listing includes:
  • Clear attribution to the hiring organization
  • A direct link to the canonical job posting
  • No modification of employer branding intended to misrepresent the role or organization

Opt-Out & Corrections

Organizations may request:
  • Removal of their job postings from The Job Feed
  • Changes to how their postings are aggregated
  • Use of a preferred feed or API method
Requests can be submitted at hello@thejobfeed.org.
We aim to respond promptly and respectfully.

Ethical & Responsible Aggregation

The Job Feed is committed to:
  • Respecting employer intent and platform terms
  • Avoiding excessive or disruptive automated access
  • Acting as a value-adding discovery layer for both job seekers and employers
  • Supporting a more transparent, accessible, and mission-aligned food systems workforce
